I am an inexperienced cook and I am actually going to prepare a meal tonight.

When grilling is it better to fillet a chicken breast or keep it whole? ( I think that means cutting it in half like a heart shape, right?) I am not coating the chicken with anything except a homemade liquid marinade and I have seen people fillet chicken b*****s on cooking shows but I didnt know if it is better to do that or not, any info you can give me would be helpfull.

  1. I would cut it in half, not across like a heart breaking, but horizontally, to make 2 thinner slices.  They will cook quicker and remain juicier b/c you dont 'have to cook them as long.  Press one hand on top of the breast, and sort of "feel" your knife go evenly thru the meat.  Keep fingers out the way (duh).  You will have 2 nice, thin fillets you can season up and grill quickly.

  2. place the whole breast on cutting board and carefully make a slit in it going almost all the way to the other end. you will have 1 big flat pience

marinate it then grill them for a total of 8-10 minutes.

they cook quicker when thin and also marinate better!
