Question:

Should I fix my gas prices until 2011?

I have been sent a letter by my gas provider, British Gas. They are offering to fix my gas price until 2011. I don't know if this is something I should do.

I have seen on the news about energy/food/fuel prices going up and up and have tried to get my head around it all, but it seems a lot to take in.

Would it benefit me to fix my gas prices until 2011?

Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

  1. BG have recently put their prices up substantially (by 35% I think). Then, almost in the next breath, they offer customers the option to fix their prices at this new level for 3 years. Is this a good offer or not? The answer depends on your attitude to risk so only you can answer this question.

However, personally, I'd wait and see what the other suppliers do in the next few weeks.

One way to check what deals are out there is to use a comparison agent - someone like www.uswitch.com or www.confused.com. Before you use one of these companies it would be a good idea for you to work out how much gas you use in a year.

You will probably get the best deals by using the same energy supplier for both gas & electricity and by paying by direct debit.

  2. With the high gas prices these days I'm so glad I found this site that gives you a gift card for gas completely free! Check it out

  3. Maybe that's an option you should for the time being. Everything concerning energy pricing is soaring so you should take that advantage.

  4. Yes fix it.
