I already have 6 parakeets at home and Im thinking about buying 2 more parakeets. But the problem is that my parents doesn't want me to buy anymore. They say that 6 is enough.

I really love parakeets very much and everytime i see them at pet stores, I just really want to buy one or two. What should I do?

  1. i think dont get more parakeets just put a guy and girl parakeet together and put hay or grass on the floor of the cage and when she lays the eggs she'll make a nest and lay an egg in it and take the male out so he doesn't crack the egg. Be careful with the egg's temp. Good luck!

  2. Your parents are acting very wisely. You should listen to them and be glad they let you have as many as 6.

It sounds like you have a parakeet buying addiction.

I honestly used to have the same feelings with certain pets.

With me it was fish and then hamsters. But that was a long time ago; and thankfully, I am now rehabilitated.

You should stop buying so many and focus on the best possible quality of care for those you do have.

Quality always beats quantity when it comes to pet care of any kind.

  3. Respect your parents' decision.  If they decide you have enough pets, then you have enough.  I know it's hard to resist cute birds at pet stores, but you have to think of your current birds first.  More pets means more food (even if they all eat the same food; it will go faster, so you'll have to buy it more often) and more vet bills, and I can't blame your parents for not wanting to deal with that..
