Question:

Should I get Puffers or Angelfish?

I have a 28 gallon tank with a cool rock structure in it that has a few caves. This tank used to house my african cichlids. I now want to get some new that are a little easier to take care of and less aggressive. I have narrowed my choices down to two different fish, little freshwater puffers or angelfish. Which do you think would be best suited for me and my tank?

  1. If you like the unusual, I would go with the Puffer, Angel fish are pretty fish, but I think personally that Puffers are more interesting. Good luck.

  2. Both puffers and angelfish need OVER 100 gallon tanks.

PS - I have two puffers! They are NOT aggressive. They are extremely peaceful.

  3. i doubt your so called "fresh water puffers" will end up being fresh water...

Usually they will be marked as "green spotted puffer", and be in fresh water... However they are not fresh water, they are brackish water. (Freshwater with some salt), this is going towards the "green spotted puffer" and the "figure eight puffer",

Green spotted puffer needs high end brackish water to full marine

    and

Figure eight needs low-end brackish water (easier to take care of)

If your puffers are actually fresh water than you can ignore this. Give more details on what the puffer is named as, or how it looks.

Anyways, puffers are very aggresive... Most need a 30+ gallon tank alone...

lily is an idiot if she actually thinks you need a 100 gallons + to have a happy green spotted puffer of figure eight... Friendly? Like i said, i wrote green spotted puffers and figure eight are not, and the most common fresh water puffer, dwarf puffer, is still very aggresive... and they will eat a guppy if you put one in there with them...
