Should I get a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue with 150K miles for $1900?

Most of the miles are highway miles and it has new brakes. The car is in great shape. Could I expect it to pour a lot of money into it early or do you think it will run fine?

  1. if it got a 3800 engine they last a long time over 250,000 miles i would buy it if i were you as long they are up to shape!!!

  2. wow that seems high. Its 11 years old, at 12000 a year equals 132000 miles. i dont really see that as highway miles. I think of an 03 with that kind of miles as having mostly highway.  Just a thoufght.

  3. If that car has the 3800 as mentioned, that's fine.

If the engine is the 3.5L "Shortstar" v6 based off the Caddy 4.6L Northstar...RUN!

  4. Offer them $1500 & I think that would be acceptable. If the car has a clean Carfax & no issues, then you just might get lucky and get a decent car. G'luck.

  5. my grandfather had one that was pretty reliable and he is a nutcase about keeping his cars up, he sold it to my aunt who still drives it, has about 120k now and has been a good car, like someone else said the motor in those will last for ever, just keep an eye out for suspension problems. I also would ask for a little off the price although $1,900 isnt to bad. If it goes down the road well I would take it.
