  2. umm... if you're looking for a cute, fun, stupid pet maybe.

anyway... good luck =) personally, i suggest getting rats (more than one) and if you can't afford one, i guess a hammy's not a bad idea but they aren't to friendly...

    =3 gd luk

  3. no they smell and they are just not worth it get a rat or a mouse!

  4. Well, first of all, ask yourself these questions.

1.) Are you finantall able to care for the hamster? You will need bedding $7.99. A wouldent wheel $7.00-$10.00. Food $8.99. Water bottle $3.00, and cage (bin cages are around 5.00 to make) Critter trail $25.00-$50.00 Or wire cage $15.00-$30.00.

2.) Are you easily annoyed or frustrated? Hamsters are nocrernal, so they run CONSTANTLY through the night. If you have a high stress job, or suffer from lack of sleep already I suggest you put the cage in a different room, or do not get one.

3.) Will you have the responisiblity to change the bedding and wash out toys every week? It may seem to be a daunting task, but really its minimal effort.

If you anwsered YES to ALL three of the questions, I believe you should

  5. yes-but like the other girl said, they have a very short life span.I cried when mine died!! Make sure you clean the cage cause it really smells if you don't-good luck!

  6. Yes. They are fun to watch, easy to take care of, and can fit in the palm of your hand :)

  7. Let me start with the bad first

    CONS-

    - lifespan only 1.5-2 years, although some lucky ones live until 3 and older

    - nocturnal, make some noise at night and are not awake during the day

    - sometimes they chew on the bars of their cage

    - some bite so make sure you get a nice hamster from a reliable breeder or private pet store (no pet smart or pet co)

    - MASTER ESCAPE ARTISTS! MAKE SURE THAT THE BARS ON THE CAGE ARE NO BIGGER THEN 1", I WOULD RECOMMEND 1/2 INCH THOUGH. MAKE SURE THE DOOR IS LATCHED CLOSED FIRMLY. HARD TO FIND IF THEY GET LOST!!

    PROS

    - Clean themselves

    - Not much space required (min 18"x10" cage I would say, but I would always get larger.

    - Small

    - Syrians live alone

    - Can be potty trained

    - Don't smell if cage is cleaned once a week

    - Teach responsibility

    - Funny and cute (of course!)

    - Buy different fun things for the cage (just make sure they are safe!)

bottom line defiantly get a hamster you will love it if you love animals =]

  8. Yes!!! Hamsters are awesome! I just got a teddy bear hamster and she is adorable!!!
