1. chinchillas seem to be very expensive. hamsters are nocturnal so you don't really 'bond' with them. guinea pigs are sweet, social animals. I've had two and both were very sweet.

  2. rabbit i have 5 and they are ssssssoooooo much fun! hope you have fun with whatever pet you get!!!!!

    ~birdfun!~

  3. Sugar Gliders can be VERY messy. My cousins have 2 and they have to clean out there cage every day!You don't want to get very small animals like hamsters or guinea pigs cause if you drop them or step on them they will most likely not live.It comes down to rabbits and chinchillas. If you don't have much money get a rabbit because chinchillas are really expensive. So my answer is rabbit. They cute and lovable!:)

  4. a chinchilla there more expensive but there cute and they last a really long time :) they cost 150$ is your not willing to pay that much get a guinea piggie or a hammie

  5. GUINEA PIG!

They love attention and dont require alot of work, if you think that once a week is too much get a hamster. Guinea pigs can communicate with you, and don't bite, even if they do it is just a gentle nip

  6. Chinchillas: They take a while to tame and to keep them that way you need to be VERY patient and play with them a lot! They need a large, ALL metal cage. They are extremely nocturnal and all the chinchilla books I have read say DO NOT disturb during the day. They need to be out of the cage at least an hour a night. (This didn't seem too hard at first, but it can become quite burdensome no matter how much you love it.) Also, their food is relatively expensive in comparison to other rodents. Chinchillas also live up to 20 years so it is a long term commitment.

Hamster: They are easy to care for and they are probably the cheapest as far as cage and accessories go. They don't seem to bond to humans as much as some other animals but they are very cute and have quite the little personalities.

Rabbits:Very smelly if the cage is not cleaned often. They are entertaining and you can play with them during the day. They need an appropriate size cage as some breeds can get rather large. That's where my knowledge of rabbits ends.

Guinea pigs: They are cute and make the cutest noises. Although they look very robust, they are extremely fragile so you have to make sure you don't put them into a situation where they could fall or be dropped. This could be the reason that they can be skittish, unless they really trust you.

Dwarf hamsters: They are sooooo cute!!!! They can be feisty little monsters but that seems to only be a front as they are quite happy to sit on you lap or travel all over you. They can even climb almost vertical terrains! Some nip but most of the time it doesn't hurt.

Sugar gliders: I wanted one so I did research on them. In short, I don't have enough space for them. They need an insanely huge amount of room to be happy and healthy. If you think you have the space and money to get it a large enough enclosure, go for it.

I thinnk that is it... Just make sure you do your research on each so you get one that fits YOUR lifestyle. Also, I know they wern't on your list, but rats make EXCELLANT pets. Unlike most rodents, they actually like being with humans, not just tolerate us.(lol) They get a bad rap because they look "creepy", but I guarantee that if you spent some time with one, it would win you over!

  7. get them all! lol jk ..

i would get a hamster for a good stater pet !!!

  8. Everyone is telling you to get chinchillas, but please realize. They live VERY long lives for rodents. I don't know how old you are but if you are younger, then don't get one because you will have to leave it when you go to college.

I am younger and I have two guinea pigs. They are harder to care for then a hamster, but sooo much more rewarding. If you decide to get one, I'll answer any questions you have. I'm kinda like a little encyclopedia by now! Ask me anything and I'll try to help.

  9. they are all so cute, but hamsters dont live long at all, so dont get a hamster.

my friend used to have a chinchilla and it was a lot of fun. they take baths in this powder they roll around in, they are the softest thing i have ever touched, and are fairly bigger, so they arent so rodent-like. i would go w/ the chinchilla. if you dont want to pay that much, then i would get a guinea pig.

  10. Guinea pig. They are fun but not TOO much work, although they are a lot of work. Hamsters aren't very fun and rabbits are really hard work (I have two. adn 9 guinea pigs. Although I dont know about sugar gliders or chincillas. But i'm still going with Guinea pigs.

  11. Ok, I'll tell you a bit about each one:

Sugar Glider: They need a very big cage and in some places they are illegal.

Hamster: Their very easy to take care of, they don't smell, and their not expensive.

Guinea Pig: Their bigger, so they will need bigger cages, toys, ect.

Dwarf Hamster: Their more active than syrian hamsters, but they require the same amount of care.

Rabbit: They need bigger cages too, and they smell. They need a lot of time out of their cages so they need a lot of care.

Chinchilla: Their not very friendly (they can spray pee on you! lol), and their bigger.

So I would buy a hamster, because their very friendly and their easy to take care of. Good luck!

  12. I have a rabbit and he is the best. If you do get a rabbit keep in mind that they take a of of care and attention. You have to make sure they have fresh food and water always and clea out their hutch everyday. They also need to be held and played with a lot.
