Should I get a Xbox 360 or Playstation 3?

I want to buy a next gen game console (Not the Wii) and I want to play online with my mates.

The xbox 360 has the best games in the world great graphics and awesome online.

The PS3 has slightly better graphics but really really bad games, and the online is not very good.

Now onto your question. To be honest you should first look at what consoles your mates have, no good getting a PS3 if all your friends have 360's.

If space is an issue, the PS3 takes up less of it, as the Xbox requires a power brick and an external HD drive (if you wanna play movies in HD, anyway).

Also consider that you need to use batteries for the Xbox controllers, whereas the batteries are built-in in the PS3 controller, so it is less hassle and you can charge it while playing.

Though of course this depends on the first point I made.

Mate i give u this advise from one gamer to another...buy an xbox 360..get xbox live and buy call of duty 4! u will NOT be dissapointed i guarantee it

i would recommend the ps3 i bought an xbox elite and within 3 months i was back at pc world returning it for a ps3. the xbox might have good online but thats really just the atmosphere with every one having a headset but actual game play it pretty much the same. also to play online will cost you £40 plus if you want to play wireless you need the bridge which is another £50 which did it for me and made me change it

You can browse the internet from a PS3 & a Wii.

You can't on an Xbox.

The Xbox is cheap piece of mexican build cardboard.... no expence spent.

The PS3 is full of bespoke hardware - the list of patents on the side is ridiculous.... the reason the PS3 was delayed so long (and why it's so expensive) is because it's a solidly built bit of kit.

I've went through 4 Xbox's in under a year... each time having to deal with the nightmare that is Microsoft tech support.... probably the least helpfull 'help-line' I've ever had the misfortune to call.

I don't know of anyone who has owned an Xbox 360 that hasn't had a problem with it.

Then there's other stuff... like Xbox themes... charging you 800 points for a picture?!!

Compare that with PS3 - where Sony give you the tools (for free) to create your own themes.

& PS3 is also a blue-ray player - Microsoft will charge you another (how much is it? £120 or something) for an external HD-DVD player.

Also, everything on the PS3 is done in Pounds and Pence... none of this 1200 tokens rubbish when you're buying something... so you know exactly how much something costs.

Taking into account all of the "extra" stuff you need to buy for a 360 to make it almost as good but not quite, as a PS3 - it's actually cheaper to buy a PS3.

PS3 all the way.

And comparing what happened with my Wii with my Xbox.

Both are now out of warranty... and the optical drive began to fail on both of them.

Nintendo's response: "We'll pay for the posting and repair it for free."

360 response: "Buy a new 360"

ok it really depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you are the casual gamer and want to play on the net and that pretty much be the only good feature go with the PS3. But if you are a true gamer (hardcore gamer) you need the 360. Besides the fact that all the major best games come out on the 360 (HALO 3 for example) 360 has got AWESOME features! Rip, downloads, stream and this fall they are coming out with sooo many more options. Yes you have to pay a fee to play on line but its a small fee for actually finding a game that I hear is pretty hard to do on the Pshit3. OH PS3. Ps3 has been promising HOME for a while now they still cant produce. And as for 360 that just keeps upgrading to the system you already have the PS3 will just make a new console that you have to go out and buy. Hope I helped

I want to correct teflongrl in what he said.He said you cannot browse the internet on the 360 . WRONG. yes you can. Media centre app..It shows you how much ps3 fanboys know.. Nothing.

I had both and sold ps3 to pay for xbox live. well worth it.

Think about when buying one .. which one's your friends have.

actually both are same ,both have good games,can store music,photos and movies the only difference is that xbox 360 has hd and ps3 has blu-ray(which is better) and the online play on the ps3 is better then the  xbox 360

xox 360. if u want online xbox 360 is the clear winner. even though the ps3 online is free and 360 costs $50 a year the 360 is way more fun. it has great games like halo and gears of war. with the new dashboard coming in fall u can watch movies with ur mates, play more games, view photos and much more.

Xbox 360. Best online experience and much more. It costs more cus more people around the world prefer to play with it as it has more of that "gaming  feeling".

It has the legendary xbox live not to mention todays big hit games like Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, etc...

you can tell that there's a ps3 fanboy on here as they have put thumbs down on all XBOX360 answers, i personally love my 360, and i have just got Xbox LIVE! aswell and its great, i love it, dont forget, xbox and xbox live pretty much set the standard for online gaming with consoles and there customer services aint that bad, when my xbox died out side of warranty i paid £60 to get another years warranty, then then repaired my console and i got 1 month free xbox live, repair only took a week too!!!!
