Question:

Should I get a cold air intake?

I have a 2008 Volkswagen GTI and I've been hearing how the cold air intake improves mpg, power, etc., but I also heard that a K&N filter has the same purpose. What is the difference between the two? Are there any long term consequences such as early wear and tear on the engine, voided warranty, etc? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  1. It will improve mpgs and if you add some NGK Preform once Spark Plugs you will probably get around 5- 25

HP that's a lot For such little stuff. K&N has many air kits usually all of them are cold air performance part but for your GTI i recommend you get a AME Cold Air Intake Kit usually it will void your warranty but if you go to VW dealership you can order it through them and ask what parts will support your warranty. My Friend had a 2005 Neon SRT- 4  it was fast but to many problems with the start

  2. Filters help but can't change the location of the intake nor remove any flow disrupting bumps or resonators.
