  1. Guinea pigs are more gentle.

    I think they're better pets.

  2. guinea pigs because they are fun to pet and have as a friend to talk to when your bored.

hamsters are cute but do bite when they dont want to be handled and sometimes make you bleed when they bite.

and are more likely to get lost if you have them outside their cage.

  3. You will need to consider a few things before getting a pig. Space, time, money for food and vet bills all need to be thought about.

Pet store cages are wayy to small for any guinea pig. A C&C cage is easy to make, cheaper, and much bigger and better gor your pig. www.guineapigcages.com has instructions on making your own or ordering a premade one. DO NOT use cedar chips for bedding . They are very harmful to your gp. GuineaLynx has bedding ideas.

Diet is very important: Quality pellets (no extra colorful bit or seeds) are essential. Oxbow is a good brand pellet. At least a cup of fresh veggies every day. Unlimited timothy hay 24/7.  http://www.guinealynx.info/diet.html....... has more diet details.

    * Vitman C should not be put in the water. It weakens in water and you can't measure how much the guinea pig gets a day. Use vit.C drops or chewable tablets.

Guinea pigs need daily floor/exercise time in a safe place. At least an hour a day is best. Since GP are social animals, it's best to have 2 so that they will have company all the time. Be sure they are the same s*x though. Pregnancies are very dangerous for piggies.

Also, please consider adopting your pig instead of buying one. There are sooooo many great, healthy guinea pigs that need homes in shelters and rescues all over the country. Pets stores usually sell unhealthy pigs that have been poorly taken care of. Petfinder.com will help you find a pig in your area.

  4. i think that you should get a hamster because guinea pig have sharpe teeth and if you make the g. mad they will bite and it will heart and hamsters are cute and like to cuttle plus they smell a lot better. but not all g.s like tobite it is really just up to you . when you goto the pet store ask to hold one of each one at a time and what ever one you become atached to take it home and be a good pet owner.

  5. hamster.today i got one and hes already my competing favriote.hes competing with my cat.

  6. guinea pig, they live longer and don't stink as much as hamsters

  7. hamsters are generally night animals so if you have it in your bedroom you WILL get kept awake at night several times hamsters are smaller so can escape and get lost they aren't as cuddle-able and you can't really groom them-well using an old toothbrush you can only get one unless you get dwarf as they are solitary only live about 2 years. you can also put a baggy sleeved dressing gown on and they will crawl down the sleeve very cute and go in your slippers etc

guinea pigs are more of a day animal they are bigger cuddlier easier to catch you can give them baths take them for walks-with special leads groom them but they like to live in company so you need more than one they live longer about 7 or so years you can use them as lawn mowers

a guinea pig is generally slightly more expensive as you need a bigger cage more bedding and more food but hamsters cages can just be as expensive as they have loads of extras

for both you can give toys like toilet tubes

i personally prefer guinea pigs as they are bigger cuddlier and mine when they hear me coming squeak very loudly and generally seemed to love me more.

  8. Guinea pigs have more meat...oh, wait, that's not why you're asking ;)

    Guinea pig--more personality!

  9. I don't get why people say hamsters are bad and bite- its all about how you handle them and if their tamed or not- I would Personally prefer a Hamster because their sweet and cuddly- my hamster right bnow doesn't even bite when its woken up from its sleep-in fact it'll fall asleep on you !

Get a hamster their so cute and fun haha (:

  10. hamster bc they dont p**p as much

  11. it depends on how your lifestyle is in order to a make a decision on that, personally for me, i like hamsters, but here’s some things about both of them

    guinea pigs:

live usually 5-6 years, but can live past that until 11 i have heard before, they require more care then hamsters, they need to have hay ready for them all the time, they are awake during the day, they are usually very friendly, guinea pigs are fairly big and easy for children to pick up, they are about the size from your elbow until your wrist (on an adult), they need a large cage and should have a hideaway inside the cage, they can be loud and smelly

    hamsters:

i would recommend getting a syrian over a dwarf, a syrian lives 2-3 years, the longest life i heard being 4 1/2 years, they are solitary and don't need much attention, they are nocturnal, hamsters attitudes vary greatly, some are very friendly, some are nasty bitters, you should ask to hold it in the store to determine its personality, syrians are about the length of fingertip to the bottom of your palm (on an adult), there are a large variety of cages you can get, but they don't need to be very big, hamsters can get smelly, and tend to bite even if friendly because they are scared or they think you're food, hamsters usually aren't very affectionate as other pets

if this is your first rodent, i would recommend a hamster because they are easier to take care of and have a shorter life, so if you decide that a rodent isn't your type of pet, you won't be stuck with an animal that lives very long, hamsters make great first pets

if you really would like a guinea pig, go for it! i have never had a guinea pig because i don't have room for one, but my best friend has an adorable guinea pig, and she is very very friendly! she is a bit stinky though ^^ but honestly, guinea pigs are very loveable and make great pets, they just require more care than hamsters

don’t forget that you should always do research and have some background knowledge BEFORE purchasing a pet! check the sources for websites on both pets

  12. You should get a guinea pig. When I was going to get a hamster, most of the people that care for small animals at both Petco and Petsmart said that they wouldn't recommend hamster and that they draw blood and even if they are around people at birth.

  13. guinea pig their cutter and more fun to play with cuz their bigger and chubbyer lol cute!!!! :)

  14. ehh, both are kind of lame, but guinea pigs are (in my opinion) fatter, which makes em cuter!!! haha. but i think they might smell worse...
