Question:

Should I get a network firewall program?

Could a network firewall program enable me to view what users have been looking up on my computer?

and if the users have the ability to delete their cookies and history, as an administrator could I view what they've deleted to confirm my suspicions or inappropriate web browsing....basically can I route what they think they're deleting to a place under my administrator account to view whatever it is their trying to hide?

I want to stop the frequent viruses that result from such behavior.

  1. Hi Land

Just enable the history and windows logfile. This way, you can view what they are up to even if they delete their cookies. If you want to play safe, just give them access READ ONLY mode. This way, they won't be able to do anything but surf

  2. It sounds like you have several people using your machine and they all have administrator privileges.

    What I would do is:

Install AVG free - it a very good, free anti-virus program

Install Zone Alarm - The best free firewall you can get

Install Superantispyware - dumb name - good anti - malware software

The install a parental control program like Net Nanny - that program will give you the controls you need.

Finally - move all other users to restricted privileges and have your desktop locked down and the administrator desktop locked downed with strong passwords.

Windows security is not nearly as strong as Linux, but doing these things will reduce the problems you are having
