  1. Get both!

They are as different as nite and day.I have 10 and 9 guinea pigs.Parrots and other birds require  knowledgeable handling and care. You must train them to be accepting of you and others and money must be spent to provide them with a safe comfortable and enriched environment. Also you must be prepared to take them to an avian specialist vet when problems arise. My avian vet charges $500. just for an initial visit. If you live in an apartment you must be aware that parrots are noisy and you will have complaints from your neighbors eventually.

Guinea pigs on the other hand are delicate but not as delicate as birds. You can read up on them at certain websites and learn what you need to know about their care. They require a nice spacious cage, lots of Timothy hay daily some Aspenwood bedding material, pelleted food and last but not least lots of nice fresh veggies like carrots, romaine, escarole, kale, and parsley.Don't expect too much of them, they are not like cats and dogs.I find the birds are a bit more intelligent then g.p.s.They are shy and don't like to be handled  initially. They don't do  much exept sleep, eat and p**p.But they are quiet, can be loving and once are used to you will let you pet them and groom them. They also must be brought to and exotics vet when thay are ill.But I find ,if well cared for, illness is rare in the guinea pig,and usually comes at old age.in short you need to read all you can on the web and educate yourself about the habits, requirements and nature of these two fab types of creatures before you get any one of them.

  2. u should probably get a parrot if u like messes if u like some smelly stuff u should get a guinea pig i own both so i know how it is. It's very  hard owning both animals.

  3. I would go with the guinea pig, the are a lot easier to handle and care for. Parrrots can become very hard to handle and believe me thier bite is a lot worse than that of a guinea pig. I think that the parrot requires a lot more care and you have to be a lot more careful about what you use around a parrot. Like no more candles, and you have to be very careful about the chemical cleaners that you use around them too, there are a lot out there that can kill a parrot in a short amount of time and use. The guinea pig can handle a lot more and you can take out on walks and train to do tricks..

  4. Guinea pigs make wonderful pets, but it's not a good idea to keep one pig alone.  They need to have another guinea pig as a companion or they get lonely.  Just make sure not to put a male and female together unless they're fixed.

  5. Large birds like parrots can live 80+ years. They also are EXTREMELY loud and if you dont give them ALOT of attention, they can become extremely aggressive. Their beaks are made for cracking thick shells on seeds/nuts.. so breaking through a finger is no problem for them what so ever. I think birds like that are best left to experts who know what theyre getting themselves into, and who have the proper training/time for such an animal. I'd go with the guinea pig.
