Question:

Should I get a root canal?

Almost a year ago, I had a cavity filled. They said it had decayed a lot, and that they had to fill it in quite deeply. It is the lower teeth furthest to my left. I don't have wisdom teeth. They said that if it hurt after they got the cavity fixed, to come again and I would have to have a root canal. Well, at the time, I was quite afraid of the dentist, even though that cavity was the second of my life and I hadn't had any bad experiences before, and although it hurt a bit, I didn't say anything. Now I feel no pain, but it can be sensitive if I swash cold beverages in my mouth around the area. It doesn't bother me at all, though, so should I get it done?

Thanks.

  1. No! I wouldn`t. If you start to experience pain when chewing or spontaniously then see your dentist for reevaluation. You may never need the RC or you could need it next month. Wait and see.

  2. Do what so ever the dentist says, he knows better, especially, sometimes cavity may extend to the pulp without noticing except slight pain, i've seen it a lot,yet the tooth is extracted later. If the dentist said root canal, then follow him to preserve the tooth

  3. im going through the same thing. last november my dentist said i had a deep cavity on the same tooth as yours and that i should fill it. or if it got worse then a root canal would be the only other option. so i've had it filled since then. and now it kinda bothers me but not really. mostly with cold water. so at my next appointment i think i'm jus gunna bring it up and jus have him do the root canal if he thinks that will make the tooth better. its totally up tp you what ur decide.

    good luck :)
