Question:

Should I get an internship after my first year of college?

I'm an engineering student, and I'm currently a freshman. I will have taken Honors Calculus I & II, Physics I & II, Chemistry, C++ programming, anthropology, Composition, Honors Engineering Design, and my first year seminar by the end of the year.

This upcoming summer, I'll be at home working an easy job at a supermarket. Should I just chill out and do that job next summer or get an engineering-related internship around my house? If I do, will I have relaxation time still?

Thank you for your time.

  1. yupz! I suggest you will! having those experiences will help you get familiar with the world of work. Of course, that will somewhat absorb your leisure (a bit) but it will pay of when your working because you will be comfortable doing some task and it will be easy for you to adjust.. :D

  2. Sure, go for it.  I had one every summer (I was a physics major) and it really prepared me for graduate school.
