Should I get an ipod? If so what kind should I get?

My birthday is coming up and I don't know if i should ask for an ipod. I don't want to become someone who needs every new little thing, but i don't have anything portable to listen to my music on. Also, what kind should i get? I don't need one that is really expensive, but I don't wat to get a cheap one that's going to fall apart.

all ipods are very durable. the ipod nano is a great choice. it is small, has a screen, you can watch movies on it, and it comes in many different colors.

I have two iPods and I love them. I have an iPod classic (160 GB) and it's great for watching video and keeping all of my music in one place. the only setback is that it's kinda heavy and I'd never want to take it biking with me because I'm too afraid if I crash I'll break it.

I also have a 1 GB iPod shuffle, and I love that because it's so small and it's perfect for music on the go for when I go biking (although you can't watch video on it and you can't select a song you want directly since there is no screen)

My wife has an iPod nano and that's the perfect inbetween, it won't hold all of your music (if you have a ton like I do) but you can watch video on it, and it's portable enough for her to take it running with her.

Neither of these should fall apart, iPods are pretty resilient (and if you get a faulty one, you've got the warranty)

u sud get an ipod shuffle its small but cheap. its not gonna fall apart or anythin its like 50 bucks at target

The ipod classic is for you.  I bought one myself.  One of the cheapest ones out there but is amazing.  Very durable, very long lasting battery, holds EVERYTHING you can imagine.  I have like 5 seasons of everybody loves raymond on mine and the progress bar for showing you how full it is is only full about 1/16th.  This sounds like exactly what your looking for.

yes i pods are great, get an ipod video, they aren't to big they hold lots of songs, and they are a reasonable price.

i got my ipod black classic (80gb) reduced a few months ago for like £120,

i also have a red ipod nano which my dad got in states.

you can get speakers too which is awesomee.

ipod touch has the internet though which is like amazing

also, there's a warranty and most ipods don't fall apart XD

Ummmm it matters. If you want alot of cool features get an ipod touch and if you just want to listen to music and maybe a few videos then get the ipod classic and if you have ALOT of music get the classic for sure because it has alot of space (more then some computers) and it is very cheap for what it is. The Touch is very expensive and doesnt have alot of space but has alot of cool features.

    * bad sound quality and cant be fixed by better headphones sometimes

*  has no java player so you cannot view other video's other then youtube.'

BUT U HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH MP3 PLAYERS

if u don't know how to handle it. then all is junk

but if u can iPod is the best.

um... do u listen to alot of music? (just music?)

if just music, all music, then get the ipod nano 3G

if u watch alot of movie then ipod classic

if all the video u watch is youtube ( crappy version ) then ipod touch

i want an ipod aswell, im getting mine next month, and i decided to get the ipod nano with 4gigs because its cheaper, but if you want to download a lot of music then you should get the 8gig one.  But they aren't cheap, the 4gig one is $150 anf the 8 gig one is $200.  Also the ipod classic is a very good ipod as well.  The other ipods i think are just a waste of money, also because they're expensive.
