Question:

Should I get anxiety pills? If so, how? and what kind?

I have been told that I am a very relaxed, easy going person. Most of the time, I do feel like the calmest person in the room...but in certain situations I am insanely nervous for no good reason.

I've always had super bad stage fright..My voice shakes, my heart races, and my face gets hot. But, that's common..When my professor takes role..I start to get nervous, because I know I'm going to have to say "Here!" when s/he calls my name. My heart races when I have to blow my nose, or get out of my seat.

Also, I'm very anti-social and sometimes I stutter or s***w up my sentences when I talk, even if I'm with people I know well.

....I don't have a psychiatrist..can I schedule a one time appointment just to get a prescription?

  1. What I find really helpful to have a real fun relaxed stress and anxiety free day is to drink a few beers during the day. Have a few good beers in the morning, then if you go out, take a hip flask of whiskey with you and have a few good swigs during the day. After a super start to the day get stuck into the booze in the late afternoon. It really gives you a good night’s sleep and when you wake up feeling a bit fuzzy the next morning a few good swigs will set you up for another good stress free day. I’m having a ball and doing really well with my studies at University. I have a great part time job at a local book store and the management have no idea I’m half pissed all the time, I got employee of the month for the last two months and I am leading part time sales by heaps this month. It certainly makes the time go quick and adds a lot of fun to the day. Highly recommended.


  2. So you want to take a drug and perhaps deal with organ damage, due to its side effects because you are shy ?  

    Drugs can alleviate symptoms,but this is something you need to grow out of.  

    Realize you are just as good, and just as flawed  as the next person.  

    The problem as I see it-- youre too self conscious.   You dont like attention on yourself. What do you think people will see ?  You have a flaw ?  

    Welcome to the human race. We are all screwed up.    

    In this world today, people are most self focused.

    Thus the saying " Its all About Me"

    In that regard, just know that when you talk..people arent thinking of you.  They are thinking of themselves.

    Stop caring what other people think about you.   Learn to laugh at your imperfections.  

    NO ONE IS PERFECT.   NO ONE.  

    That heart racing thing is fear.Slow your breathing until your heart calms down.

      You need to find out how to overcome and be a stronger person.  

    These victories  are what makes life interesting.  The brain is at YOUR command.

  3. No, if you want a prescription you have to go back as often as your psychiatrist reccomends so that you can be monitored. Medication is not an exact science, the doctor will put you on something he or she thinks will work at a dosage that they think is good, but it may not work and you may need a different medication or a different dosage, then when you get your medication settled you will probably only have to come in once every 3 months, but if you stop coming in, you stop getting your prescriptions.

    Also, it sounds like you have a social anxiety which may be controlled through counseling to figure out why those situations make you nervous. Which a psychiatrist would probably also reccomend because with anxiety medications, most are highly addictive when taken on a regular basis, so they would tell you to take them on an as needed basis, which is hard to do when it is simple things like roll call or people talking to you because that happens daily. Counseling really sounds like the better option.

    If you want to find a psychiatrist or a counselor go to your primary care doctor and ask them for a reccomendation or you can call your insurance company and ask for a psychiatrist.

  4. the only one who can decide if you have normal nervousness or if you have anxiety problems is a professional so I recommend that you make an apt with one and if he/she realizes that you do, then they will give you meds as needed.

  6. If you do not have enough money, you could take drugs, like alcohol or crack, to feel better and many do. But that does not cure it. The cure is to make more money. If you are depressed, the cure is not to take a drug, like Prozac. The cure is to be happier. If you have panic or anxiety, which everyone feels at one time or another, the cure is not to take drugs.
