Question:

Should I get contacts for my birthday?

My mom said that I can either get contacts for my birthday, or $100. She said if I don't get them no, then I can get them in March of '09 for free (insurance). Because I got new glasses this year, new contacts this August will cost $180.

I really wanted to spend some extra money on back to school clothes, a new purse, some games, etc. But I'm starting 9th grade, and I thought that if I was ever going to get contacts that it would be good to get them before school starts so people don't get used to my glasses, and then think I look weird with contacts.

Please Help Me!!! I'm So Confused!!!

Thanks In Advance!!! :P

  1. My advice: TAKE THE MONEY. You would be getting $100 for free, and you could use that money for clothes, school stuff, and you may even have some left over to use for something you really want later. Trust me, it will be worth the wait. The clothes will last you all year (mabey longer), and people may even compliment you on how awesome you look without your glasses in the middle of the year. Plus, they're free. But that's just my advice.

    Happy birthday!

  2. Why do you care what people think? It's up to your priorities. The smartest plan in which you will benefit more from will be: get the 100 now to buy some back to school stuff, and the free contacts in March. If you get contacts now, you will be losing 100.

But if you are so concerned with how people see you, then get the contacts now. But you will be losing in the long run. You have to understand that people don't really care. You care, but they don't. Plus, one semester of you with glasses isn't going to make much of a difference. 1 semester with glasses versus 3 1/2 remaining school years with contacts. I think if they are going to remember you after high school, it will be of what you were the last couple of semesters... not your first 9th grade semester. They will probably change too!!

So I would go with the 100 bucks if I were you.

  3. Take the money and wait for your insurance to cover the contacts.
