Question:

Should I get glasses?

I got an eye exam today and according to the doctor, everything looks perfect except for some problems I have with focusing. I have troubles focusing on objects. It's not a really bad problem but it can get frustrating sometimes. I am a musician and I notice this when the notes seem to jump from line to line. Anyway, the doctor told me that glasses were not necessary but that they would fix the focusing problem. Would you guys recommend against me getting prescription glasses to wear just for reading music for any reason? Will wearing glasses cause my vision to go bad quickly?

  1. No man ! do you wanna get teased and bullied? do u wanna look like a freak? then  dont get them, if your  mom says get them tell  her shove it up her a**

  2. "Will wearing glasses cause my vision to go bad quickly?"

    No.

Like gloves for pruning roses, just consider them a very useful bit of kit for particular tasks.  Use as required to make life less painful.

  3. if you need them to help you i say get them and my friends glasses never messed up her vison and all and my cousin has been wearing them for about 3 years now and her vison is competely fine

  4. If you truly need them,I would suggest getting them, you'll feel better because you'll be able to see better. As far as your vision going bad quickly, from what you've described,I don't think it should. If you need them just to read, then you should be fine.

  5. Reading your question was like deja vu for me.  I started having this EXACT problem during my senior year of highschool.  I was in band, and when I was playing marching music, which was simple sheet music, I had no problems.  It was when I was practicing for All District Honor Band that I started noticing that I couldn't focus on the notes.  It was a fast piece, lots of notes.  It was driving me nuts, so I got an eye exam.  Turns out I had a slight astigmatism.  I wonder is your doctor used that word??  An astigmatism is when your eye isn't shaped normally, instead of being a near perfect sphere, it's more like a football.  The more severe it gets, the more football shaped.  It causes focus problems, because the light is reflected differently into our eyes that it should be.  Notice how your eyes will focus, if you stare at something long enough.  Well, that's because your astigmatism is only beginning.  It will worsen, and eventually you'll get to where it's harder and harder and takes longer and longer to try to focus.  It's gradual, but with yearly exams, you'll notice a difference.  Like you, I'm not nearsighted or farsighted, there's only the astigmatism.  But I personally recommend that you go ahead and get glasses now, because without them your eyes are straining, even if only slightly, and it can cause the astigmatism to get worse more quickly than it would with correction.  It will be fine if you only wear them for reading music right now.  But wearing them will definitely not cause your vision to go bad more quickly, it's the opposite in fact.

  6. Yeah, you should get glasses. It isn't like you will have to wear glasses for the rest of your life, and if people make fun of you, just bear in mind they are stupid and insecure.
