Should I get guitar lessons or carry on self teaching

Question

I have been self teaching guitar (electric) for about 3 months and to be honest i'm not really getting anywhere. I want to be in a rock band one day and im really interested. I can play a few riffs (smoke on the water, sunshine of your love, the james bond theme, the godfather theme, half of the american national anthem, voodoo child, seven nation army, sweet child o' mine, and slither.) I really want to move on so are lessons worth the cash and roughly how much are they - im 15 so my parents will probably pay

They are worth the cash as long as you get an effective teacher.

Ask your friends who get lessons to recommend a teacher.

I tried to learn acoustic guitar by myself and i really got nowhere,i used to get so frustrated so i begged for my dad to put me in lessons and he did ive been going for about 9 months and honestly im one of the best in my class.I think you should try going to lessons since you already know some of the riffs and chords it wont be too hard.If you want to be in a band then i think you should take lessons.

It really depends on you - if you want lessons, try them, you can always stop if you don't benefit from them. My husband taught himself and can't read music at all, he learned from watching other guitarists. He played professionally  and was quite well thought of.  Do what is right for you.
