  1. Do you want to be a professional cheerleader or do you want to be a well educated adult? Public school is only good for doing the fun stuff...it is not about education. It is about providing the teachers and administrators with job comfort and job security...NOT about providing you with an education. So, if you can just participate in a few fun things at your local school while you homeschool then go for it. Beware of jealous school mates though.

  2. There are lots of good reasons to homeschool, and I am sure there are good reasons to stay in public school, but if homeschooling is an option for you, I recommend that you explore it.  Teen years are tough enough without having to deal with feeling like you don't belong.

If cheerleading is something you really love, then depending on your area, you may find a dance or gymnastics studio that teaches cheer, or a local team that has a cheerleading squad and training camp.  Some states allow homeschool students to participate in extracurricular activities like band and sports, so maybe you could even do both!

Homeschooling is not EASY though, so don't think of it as the easy way out.  You will have to work hard to keep up with your classes!  But you do have more control of your time and where you dedicate your energies.  There is a greater feeling of accomplishment when you complete a course on your own, I think.

    Good luck with your decision,

  3. def. get homeschooled ! it is so much fun! did you know that there are squads out of the school and i bet if you tryed out for one they would like your talent and make you captain or co captain and maybe help teach the younger kids

  4. Some states have a law that says homeschooled children can still participate in the school sports, use the library or even attend a few classes ( pick and choose). You could have your parents check with the superintendant or state education director to see if this is the case in your state.
