  1. after a certain amount of time and depending on the state you may be able to get this purged  or expunged from your record. i would call your local legal aid office.

  2. This would be something to talk to with the head of the Education Department at the university that you'll be attending.  If the crime was committed as a juvenile (under 18) and were tried as one, then they may not even look at those records. The biggest concern that they'll be looking for criminal sexual behavior towards children.

Criminal Justice may also be a good option since you do have personal experience with the law.  This way, you can help others--even children--with making good decisions so that they don't get into trouble.

  3. I think this misdemeanor will follow you in nearly any career you choose...

But the good news is... it wasn't child abuse related.

so as time goes on.... you will be able to play this down...

I would encourage you to become a teacher...it's a great lifestyle!

also, it is easy to get your foot in the door by substitute teaching...this will give your principal the opportunity to see your strengths...and hopefully land that much coveted teaching job.

btw, make sure you study in the same state that you plan on living in forever... otherwise you will be going through a long and tedious process to re-license in another state...

my wife has licensed in 3 states!!

I have taught some....Overall I love it! the pay is only so-so
