Question:

Should I get my hair thinned out?

It is REALLY thick and hard to manage. I get knots all the time and it sucks. Whenever I wash it, it goes nuts, so I straighten it every day. It's fine when it's straight (it doesn't look as thick) but it just takes sooo long!!! My hair is long too so it's even worse. I want to get it thinned out. My cousin recommended it to me but I've heard mixed opinions.

What do you think?

  1. ya u could thin ur hair but cut it till ur shoulders maybe?

  2. no

thinning ruins the hair and put very very fine layers in it.  then when it grows out its thick on top and thin on the bottom.  get regular trims about every 7-9 weeks and i use vitamin e on my hair to deep condition it and helps it to grow.  put it on fresh washed hair.  its great stuff.  dont ever brush your hair but use a wide tooth comb or pick.  learn to deal with curly hair and style it accordingly.  you are just ruining your hair and it will catch up with you

  3. my hair is like that too,

i wanted the same thing, until i found out how many people would do anything for thick hair

so, just keep it like that!

or u can try to cut it kinda short

    that's what i did

and my hair is still thick, but not knoty, and doesnt go nuts when i wash it

  4. DO NOT THIN OUT YOUR HAIR!

you sound like your hair might be similar to mine...

Trust me, if your hair already looks thinner

straightend then you might wanna just leave it

be and deal witht the amount of time it takes.

&& I also suggest you try and minimize how much you

    straighten your hair. Everyday-is horrible...

soon, you're going to have split ends up to your

crown, and frizzy, poofy, nasty, damaged curls.

know from experience and it takes long & hard work

to get it back to the way it used to be! :D

but don't thin it out, because when you do straighten it

    it'll look thin, and yucky.

  5. is your hair really curly? or just frizzy and thick? it depends..... i wouldn't thin it out of it's curly because it might not look as good if you leave it curly......

and you usually need layers to thin it out..... with my hair, when i thinned it out, in the heat it would flip everywhere because of the layers and i personally didn't like it and wouldn't reccommend it

  6. I have long thick hair which is hard to manage.I found it easier to get  layers put through it,not too short though-so that way if you want to put it up or braid it you still can do so.Another hint after washing it I always put a hair moisturiser through it,because with the layers it has made my hair lighter so the curl has returned & the moisturiser stops the frizz

  7. Speaking a girl with extreme thick and curly hair .

Its a very bad idea .

Because our hair is so thick .

If you get it thinned out , there will be short frizzy hairs and it looks terrible curly .

But if you do want it thinned out , tell your stylist to only thinn out underneath , so the frizzy pieces will not be visible.

  8. if it is curly but you straighten it everyday go ahead and thin it , if your hair is kinda straight then you should totally thin it out . my hair is wavy and i thined my hair, it is alot lighter and i do not have to use so much shampoo

  9. i got my hair thinned out a couple days ago, and my hair was like to my shoulders so now my hair looks horrible and it makes my hair look poofier on top and i hate it.

but since you have long hair, tell the hairstylist to keep your length and get it thinned.

    it will look great (:

  10. YAY GIRL!

  11. i don't think you should get it thinned out (its sort of damaging to your hair) but you can try layers. they make you hair appear thinner, and give it more shape.
