Question:

Should I get my no insurance speeding ticket deferred, and how do I go about doing that?

I live in the state of Washington. I have a $680 ticket for 84 in 70 and didn't have proof of insurance. I had 2 cars but was insured for one and the one I was driving I wasn't. The car I was covered for was my daily driver and I have proof of insurance for it. I am 26 and had a clear driving record and have always had insurance. The car I was covered for broke down a day before my trip. I checked off mitigation hearing and sent the ticket in. Should I just explain the situation to lower the fine and maybe the no proof of insurance would be dropped? Or do I get it deferred, which I don't know much about.

  1. what you do is run down and buy insurance.  show up in court with documentation of your policy and it may be set aside.  i too live in washington and they have been getting progressively tougher about this issue.  be prepared to pay the fine.

  2. You can't get a deferred on a 'no insurance' violation.

Either you were covered or you weren't.... period.

    No excuses, no slack.

You'll end up having to pay the fine AND you may lose your license or have to pay a surcharge to keep it.
