I've been on them as all my friends want me to use them for contact. But I'm beginning to wonder if these websites are safe with all that personal information online? Any advice on what is safe to put? Or would you recommend just deleting my pages? And if so would my friends loose the main method of communicating with me?

  1. well, dont delete them . just make them private so only you and your friends can access your page! but still dont put too much personal information just in case!

    hopee i helped:)

  2. you will find you cannot delete them , its safer to use e-mail

  3. yes

  4. Just don't post too much of your personal information, otherwise I don't think they are that bad.

  5. set your pages in private. Noone can see your page unless they are your friend. and if anything delete people you don't know. :]]]

  6. dnt use ur real name, education or work place n ul b ok

  7. yes.

    just e mail your friends.

  8. Dont put anythink like what you do where you go where you are going on that day. Try not put anything other than needed information on them and you will be fine. :)

  9. This was taken from the facebook site. It means if you take off your pictures articles and info they can still use it. They've already archived your info. Irrevocable perpetual license ans sublicensing. Myspace has a similar clause. So even if you leave they've already store your info. Use your privacy settings to the fullest extent the BBC stated only 20% of the facebook users actually alter or increase their privacy settings.

By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to the Company an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute such User Content for any purpose on or in connection with the Site or the promotion thereof, to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such User Content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing. You may remove your User Content from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content.”

  10. Places like myspace and facebook are good if you have a large group of friends also using these sites. They work best if you put your profile to private and don't accept invitations to be friends with people you don't know. Theres nothing wrong with becoming friends with people online but don't accept there invitations if they haven't sent you a message first. Its ok to put some personal details on your profile, but never put detailed stuff about your whereabouts, so its ok to say your going out with your mates but dont say where or when. Never put your email address as you will attract spammers and unwanted mail. Don't put your full name, first name is fine but best to use a nick name or abbreviations of your name. I wouldn't state your school or place of work, or which area you live. saying you live in south london is fine but try not to be too specific. and finally try and limit the photos, having photos is fine but try and stay away from family pictures or ones that you wouldn't want someone you work with or go to school seeing. But if you feel you don't want to use them don't your friends will understand and there is always email and texting to keep in contact. Myspace and facebook if used properly can be good fun but they can be dangerous if used without caution. Slatting someone on a profile is never a good idea, it can easily be seen by thousands if not millions of people with the use of google and searching abilities!
