i heard that the younger the hamster is, the easier it is to tame.....but i mean....that doesnt mean the 1 mnth year old hamster wont bite right? i might as well get the 2 mnth year old one for a good price and tame him...

  1. Petco is notorious for taking really bad care of their pets. But if the hamster looks healthy and happy and you're concerned about money, go for Petco. That one month difference isn't really going to do anything, especially if you plan on actively taming the hamster.

  2. 1 month makes little diffrence, altho not to a hamster i suppose :S since there lifespans are preety short .. so considering that they onli live a year of 2 at best, get the 1 month ones :)

  3. Both ages are young enough for the hamster to be tamed.  Go for the one that looks the healthiest and ask to handle then both and chose the one that is friendliest (all young hamsters are scared and a bit skittish for a while though).

  4. ~ hi~ I'd ask to hold each hamster and I would chose the one that responds best you. That's how we always picked our hamsters. Or rather they picked us by their initial response to us.

Good luck picking your new friend! =)

  5. Almost all hamsters bite at one point or another... it's certainly a process that takes some time, but no hamster is beyond training. I got my last hamster when he was already a year old and he was hand tamed in less than a month :)

Like someone else said, go for the happiest looking hamster... make sure he/she is alert and looking around at their surroundings. There's nothing more important than making the right choice for you. Look for unique personalities :)

  6. Honestly I'd go with the ones that look happier, cleaner,  and healthier.  1 or 2 months...there's not much of a difference.

  7. hamsters are usually weaned from their mother around 4 weeks , so the 1 month old probably just left mom, just make sure they are eating on their own. the 2 month old would be my choice because they have had more interaction with people and are not so spooky. are these dwarf hamsters ot full size hamsters? it has been my experience ( used to work at petco)that most dwarf hamsters seem to be ornery in general and are harder to tame, where as the full size hamsters  tend to be a little more laid back and not so high strung, the exception to this is chinese dwarf hamsters, they are so mild. i would chose the older one  because it has more of it s personality that it will probably have when it is adult.
