I have been thinking about getting the lap band. I am 29 years old, married with 2 children (3 and 2), I am 5 ft 5 inches, and I weigh 250lbs...

I just feel TIRED all of the time. I know what I have to do to lose weight, but the thing is I don't even eat that much, and I know that is part of my problem also, I need to eat consistently. I don't drink soda, and we hardly even eat take out, because I want my boys to have healthy eating habits. I eat brown rice, lean meats, lots of veggies, and I go walking in the evening for about 30 minutes. I have been doing this for about a month noe, and I still have not seen any results...

I have sleep apnea, and I come from a family of obese people, so I am wondering if the lap band is my only hope...I would prefer not to, but I don't want to be heavy anymore either...I want to feel good...

  1. The Lap Band is a good procedure for people who have tried every other method and failed. There is a lot of good information on the Lap Band and other types of gastric bypass options at http://www.yourbariatricsurgeryguide.com...

  2. Lap Band would be a personal decision.  You need to research this for you.  There is some good websites for the lap band and they are

lapbandsolutions.com and the realizeband.com   There is another website that is a support system for weight loss surgeries and it is

    obesityhelp.com

You sound like you are eating right, but you have to learn that there is victories other than the number on the scales.  You could be losing inches.  Which you will see in your clothes and shoes.  I opted for lap band 4-16-08 and I am down 50 pounds and I do now what you are doing now.  I exercise 3-4 times a week and I had sleep apnea and I couldn't use my cpap machine and now I don't need it.  I would recommend lap band after you have contacted a doctor and researched it.  I just love my band and I do feel better every day.  It is a tool and not a magic bullet, you still have to work hard and stick to the diet and you do have the diet down.  My band doesn't like rice (any kind) nor breads and that is okay, I don't need them.  The sodas is a good idea, because you can't have them.  The walking is something you have to do after the surgery.  Good Luck in whatever YOU  decide.

  3. These are all questions you should be discussing with your doctor.  It's a huge decision, not to be taken lightly or answered by strangers on an online message board.  Good luck to you.
