  1. Yes, Dell is very good.

  2. the exact same thing happened to me with a dell inspiron 5000 in about 2001!

it overheated and burnt my legs. :/

i have an advent now, it's quite good.

  3. The above "answer" is spam.  I've seen that same post before.  Of course, all the Apple users will tell you that Apple is better.  However, I would definitely choose HP (Hewlette-Packard) instead of Dell.  Dells are very cheaply made and Dell has bad customer service.  Dells are not known for their quality either.  HP is the best store-baught brand that I have ever seen.

  4. Go for the Dell.

I have been  a Dell fan for for 15 years and never had one l**k of trouble with any of my own or work Dells.

I had lots of problems with HP (mainly keyboards that the keys fall off) though at work and won't own one my self.

  5. I've had a dell and it was alright.  But definitely stay away from hp.  I bought an hp computer 3 years ago.  Six months in I had problems with it.  The keyboard broke.  Then the mouse.  Next the internal wireless internet connection stopped working.  Then the entire computer crashed - needed a new hard drive.  About 3 months ago the screen stopped working.  Now I have to get a new computer - my insurance says it is now "junked."  I will never buy a hp again, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.

Macs are wonderful computers.  When my laptop had all of its problems and was in the shop, I went out and bought a mac because I was falling behind in my work.  My mac is wonderful.  My mac renewed my faith in computers.  So, of course I will recommend a mac.

    Some pluses:

-never slows down like a pc does.  I have thousands of photos and songs on mine   and it runs just as fast as it did the day I got it home.

-It can't get viruses, so I save $100 every year on virus protection software.

    -Extremely easy to use.

-The desktop ones are easy to hook up - a single plug in cord.  Then there are usb ports where you plug your mouse and key board.

-They meet all of your qualifications.

    -The dashboard feature is amazing.

If you are still fixed on a pc, I've heard good things about Toshiba.
