Should I give my babies my partners surname?

I'm having twins in November but my partner and I are not married.

The babies were unplanned but are not unwanted. He wants the children to have his surname ready for when we marry.

My partner's surname is Murphy and mine is Jones.

I suppose if we get married it will be fine, but what is we seperate, will I have to have a different surname to my children.

The babies will be called Carmella Marie and Noah George.

If I am being overly hormonal and panicky then feel free to tell me.

That is a tough one.  Can you name them Murphy-Jones?

If you don't want to do that, I would seriously consider if you plan on marrying him, and if he is going to be in the kids' lives.
