My baby's father and I had an informal agreement that he would give me a certain amount of money per month for care of our child. He was only paying exactly half of the day care expenses, no food, clothes, nothing towards rent for my two-bedroom apartment, no contribution towards medical insurance, or medications either. The day care center raised the fees and my rent amount was increased. I asked him to give me a little more money per month and he flipped out on me. So I took it to court. Now he's threatening to skip town (move out of the state, or out of the country) to avoid paying anything more because he thinks/knows that the courts will award me more than what's he's been paying. I don't like the idea that he will abandon our child by skipping town and I'm wondering if I should offer to give him back any amount the court awards over what he had been paying, as an incentive (bribe) to stay and be a father to our child. I'm torn and don't know what to do. I really do need the extra money. I've been carrying the majority of the financial burden but I want her to have her father. I would appreciate any comments on this. Thanks.
