I've been paying child support all her life.....I don't know her because of lack of contact....Her mom is a big drain on society...welfare, food stamps, and housing with no will to work and make a decent life....now she has a 1 year old (not mine) and is demanding more child support...I have a family to take care of as well....Advise....

  1. i think if her mom is a big drain on society, maybe you should be the one to stand up for your daughter.  try to get into her life, don't just toss her away like so much garbage. she is your family, too.

  2. You can't just give up parental rights unless the mother has requested you to do so. And if she does you should because you are not fit to be a parent.

  3. I advise you to be more careful who you mate with in the future.  It's my understanding that after about 5 years, you can't terminate your parental rights, and are responsible for the child until they are 18.

    Ask your lawyer.

  4. no take her to court again and show them that you're the better parent. you're kid just needs time to get to know you. try and spend time with her

  5. That depends, do you want to get to know her?  Why haven't you got a custody arrangement all this time.

I can see where you are coming from though.  If you don't end your rights, you will forever be in debt to welfare.  Maybe make a visit to your daughter.  Get to know her and explain why you haven't been around.  Give her your contact info.  And then give up your rights.  This way you dont have to forever owe welfare and you can still know your daughter.  She is at the age where she can start making up her own mind.

  6. What you should do is try to get into her life.  You said you have a family to take care of but what you failed to realize is that she is your family.
