Should I give up on this guy?

I have seen this waiter at my favorite restaurant and have been attracted to him for a couple of years now, but have always been involved at the time. Now that I'm single, I wanted to let him know. We have always made great eye contact, smiling and flirting a bit, but never really talked. So I finally upped my nerve and gave him my number. 3 weeks go by and he doesn't call. So, I give it another go.. I go back to the restaurant and this time he meets me at the door, remembers me and seats me at one of his tables. He is so friendly, sweet, and even sits down with me for like 15 minutes while I ate. (It was a very slow night at the restaurant.) I could hardly eat because of my nerves, and just the excitement. We shared good conversation, amazing eye contact (he held my gaze for much longer than is normal), big smiles and at the end, he gave me his email address... NOT his phone number.

So, we have written a few times, and shared some common interests, and again I gave him my number. He hasn't called. He also didn't write me back the last time. (It's been over a day.)

What gives? Am I mistaken to think that he is giving mixed signals?

Should I give up?

Oh, by the way I am a girl and he is a guy. We are both over 30. :)

Do you know for sure he is not involved with anyone? If he isnt contacting you via phone that could be a surefire sign that he is involved with someone or not as interested in you as you think. I understand why your confused but if you want to find out the truth he'll be more likely to tell you whats going on if you ask him polietly through the e-mail address hes given you.

Either he is already seeing somebody, or he is trying to take it nice and slow with you.
