Im considering wanting to learn to play the guitar for fun. I definitely want to go electric and I just want something decent to learn with. I was thinking of buying one of those value packs at guitarcenter and didn't know which is better brand wise and which will sound the way i want it. Here are the two value pack links on their website:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-by-Fender-Stop-Dreaming--Start-Playing-Affinity-Special-Strat-Pack-With-Fender-Frontman-15G-Amp-104487442-i1175988.gc

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-IJX40-Electric-Guitar-Jumpstart-Package-518876-i1168525.gc

Remember this would be a learning guitar. and some of my musical inspirations would be Seether, Flyleaf, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, RHCP, Three Days Grace, etc. Hopefully that gives you guys some idea what I'm into music wise.

  1. Both guitars are pretty cheap, but I'd say Ibanez all the way!

It's a personal choice, but I hate Squire/Fender guitars. The pickups are noisy.

Personally, I love Yamaha guitars. They're just so nice to play.

The best thing to do is to get yourself to a local music shop and have a chat with the guys down there. They're sure to have a guitar starter kit and you might be able to haggle a guitar lesson or two out of them as well.

Whatever guitar you choose, have fun, that's the most important thing :o)

    Let's rock !

  3. woot! Three Days Grace!

    lol

If you are just starting just go get some cheap $100 guitar. It's what I did.

I also got a tiny $20 amp and a couple guitar books

    Simple.

    Cheap.

And it's alot better to learn on something cheap, so if you decide you don't like it, you can just forget about it.

(and I didn't click the links so i don't know what the value packs are..)
