  1. do not go alone. cruises are notorious for rapes. Im not not kidding. and since they are in the water there is no law that can protect you.

  2. There is not a lot of rape on cruise ships.  If there is, then it usually is among a private group that parties too much; if they were on land it would still happen.  The do have security on ships, but they are not noticeable.  Also, they are somewhat restricted on the age limit to avoid young guys that aren't old enough to drink or if they are old enough they are monitored.  Most of the guys that work on the ship are not desirable foreigners, many have their wives aboard, many cannot afford to s***w around as they can lose their job which is hard to get, pays good for them, etc.  Only the officers are allow to fraternize with the guest and they really have a lot to lose, like their license.

If you are an outgoing person and meet people easily, go by yourself.  I have gone several times by myself, my second cruise I went by myself, at age 22, many years ago, and never had a problem meeting people.  Some of the younger ones, as well as older ones, became good acquaintances and buddies on board.

Go on a 7 day cruise or a 4 day weekend cruise.  5 day cruises during the week has more couples and families.  If you book far enough in advance, you can get a cabin for a single person; most ships have 4-5 of them only.  Otherwise, you will have to pay twice the price for it as your not splitting the cost of the cabin with someone else.  Now, some of the cruise lines have to charge you double for port taxes.

Your best bet is a Carnival, then Royal Caribbean cruise line.

They cater more to younger people whereas Holland America, and others, cater to an older crowd.  Depend on your preference.

I assume you are a guy, and it is great for them as there are a lot more single girls than guys on the ships.  The only thing I miss about being on the ship without my husband, a ship captain on oil tankers, is that I don't get to dance; which is fine as a rule, as I taught ballroom dancing and most  can't dance as good as him.  Still is nice to go alone and  have my own free time and space away from everything.

  3. Traveling the world is something that many people would dream of, but after a while and long enough you just want to actually come home. Much better if you go with partners maybe your love ones cruise is very romantic to one couple.
