In reference to the above-referenced question, I must say that I have a craving to help people (preferably children as a pediatrician) and have an obsessed interest in global warming applied with asthma, allergies, and obesity. And also I think that I would love living Providence, Rhode Island and attending an Ivy League school. However, I also have an interest in screen writing and producing my own ideas, and my father and brother attended USC. In addition to this, I am also very good at screen writing, and I am also nearly an expert at science. Also, I love to write about the topic of global warming and use my creativity to write. I suppose that the purpose of the above question is nothing more than to seek the advice and opinions of different people. Also, I am going to have to apply to college soon, so I must know!!! LOL!:)

Thank You!!!

  1. Personally, if I were you I would go to Brown University's medical school. Thinking into the future you are more likely to find employment and you can help people if you become a pediatrician or doctor.

Attending an Ivy League school would be a great opportunity, I don't think it's a big issue that your father and brother attended USC. You could help America with the obesity crisis and for your global warming obsession you could work with asthma and allergy sufferers.

However you could still enjoy screen writing and science as a hobby, I'm sure you could join a club at Brown.

I too, also like to dicuss the topic of global warming, sorry that's random. Hope this helps, good luck.

  2. Well Brown's combined undergrad/med school program is so hard to get into that you can't count on it even if you have perfect grades and SATs. So if you don't get in, why not go to USC and take film courses and also the pre med sequence of classes to keep your options open.

  3. I doesn't sound like you know what you want just yet, which is fine, you haven't even started college.  If you like helping people, particularly kids, there are a lot more options out there than just being a pediatrician.  And if you like to write, there are a lot more opportunities than just screenwriting (although granted, screenwriting is really cool).  And since you won't be starting medical school any time soon, you first need a college degree, there is no rush to decide.

You can go to medical school with just about any major, as long as you complete the pre-requisites (all the science classes, maybe consider a minor in science ).

Ask yourself what style of life you see yourself living.  Would you prefer the prestige and steady income that comes with being a physician?  There is a lot of potential for a different type of prestige and phenomenal income with being a film maker.  Or you could just end up broke.  Are you ready to live broke for your art or your vision?

It seems to me that you might want to explore further.  I bet there are options out there waiting for you to discover them.  Good luck!

  4. Go to Medical school. You can always write in your free time, or as a hobby. You cannot do the other way around.
