Should I go to Ilio City or just stay in Makati?

I am going to the Phils for hopefully a celebration*(I take the MCAT and I hope I do decently!) and I was wondering if it would be better for me to hang out in Makati or in Ilio City? Is it safe for Americans(black)

It is safe to stay anywhere provided that you must be kind to others, meaning you must not be arrogant and take care of your belongings. Aside from these, do bring mosquito repellent.

If you mean iloilo city, i say stay there, its alot safer than makati, and iloilo is less hectic i find than makati. i dunno its your choice but i prefer iloilo

Makati and Iloilo are both safe although Iloilo would be safer. You would probably meet a lot more of your countrymen in Makati. Let me tell you something, when I was in high school back in the 90's there is this Black American who goes out to Molo Supermarket to take his daily paper with no fail at promptly 7:00 am, just when our jeep would pass by on my way to Jaro. Nobody bothered him at all and I guess he enjoys his stay. =)

The party scene in Makati is better of course, Iloilo is more into beaches and a mild nightlife.
