  1. Why don't you come to the US instead? New York City is much better than either of those cities.

  2. You should go to Quebec City for a more "French" trip. There are more french speaking there if you want to experience the french culture. But if an Anglophone, then Montreal would have more english speaking people. But both are wonderful cities.

And would save more money if you stay in Canada -  going to New York would cost so much more!

  3. It depends on what your interests are and what you feel like doing.

here is a website for both cities so you can see which one is more appealing to you:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_city

  4. Both Montreal and Quebec City are beautiful in their own right.  New York doesn't hold a candle to either.  If you are looking for walkabouts to learn history and architecture, both cities, Vieux Montreal and Vieux Quebec will fulfill that need.  You can take the VIA from Montreal to Quebec inside two hours or vice versa so either city is good to use as a base.  Montreal-see Vieux Montreal, Vieux Port, rue Jacques Cartier, Marche Bonsecours, Notre Dame.  Quebec City -- see Citadelle, Promenande des Gouvenors, Quartier Champlain, way too many.  At least two nights minimum in each city will keep you inspired!

  5. If you can speak French pretty well, then you should first try Quebec City then go to Montreal.  I've only been to Montreal, and they speak more English there.  In Montreal, you can walk around Old Montreal, St. Catherine's for shopping, and there is a small Chinatown.
