Should I go to Riviera Maya Mexico or Punta Cana in Dominican Republic?

Question

I can't seem to decide between the two. Has anyone been to either or both places? Can you give me some feedback to help me decide which would be better? I suppose the weather will be about the same in both places. And what about things to do and the beauty of the beaches... My trip is going to be on the first week of August. Please help...

i am from the dominican republic it is beautiful

you should go to punta cana but make sure you pick a good hotel sometimes the beaches are not that nice

in mexico theres a lot of robbers i dont think its an ideal place to be

If you're choosing between Mexico and the DR, go to the DR. It's a different atmosphere than Mexico and you'll really enjoy it there. There's a different vibe in the DR compared to Mexico. The weather may be the same, but the DR being where it's located in the Caribbean will be simply beautiful...and the water will be clearer, definitely bluer and calmer than in parts of Mexico.

Try Puerta Plata instead of Punta Cana. I've had some friends go to Samana and said they really enjoyed it there.

Been to both and just came back from Punta Cana from our honeymoon on Thursday. Totally go to Riviera instead. We werent overly impressed with Punta Cana.  The beaches were not that great in Punta since you are not really on the Caribbean water but the Altantic ocean side. Not much to do we thought in Punta since it is VERY VERY VERY selcuded.If you like to shop, Punta is not the place......Email me at [e-mail] if you want pics.

We did love our hotel room at the Dreams resort and they had an awesome pool.

Sorry, but your best choice will be the Dominican Republic, the north coast Puerto Plata is simply " wonderland" so....

Punta Cana for sure.  We have been to both places and have made Punta Cana our destination of choice.  The people in the DR are so much more friendly and the country more beautiful.  It was also cheaper.  The beaches more beautiuful and the countryside was more scenic as well. We have been to Punta Cana twice and are planning our third trip.  there are lots of things to do in both places though. Take lots of sunscreen and enjoy!
