Today I was cleaning my toilet and I used bleach on it as I was reaching up to put the bleach up I knocked it over and it all spilled into the toilet. I wasn't to worried so I went ahead started cleaning the bathroom anyway. While a few minutes went by and it started becoming really hard to breath and I was feeling sick from the fumes. I went ahead and flushed it down and wiped up the bleach got on the sink and back of the toilet. I raised the window and let the bathroom air out.

The fumes from the bleach died down and you could walk into the bathroom breath right. After an hour it still hurt my chest and lungs to breath in to deep. I still felt light headed but that passed now it just hurts a lot to really breath in to deep or yawn and what not. I wanted to know if this would pass or should I got an see my doctor

  1. Get some air outside and do some deep breathing. You may have just had a reaction. If you don't feel better tomorrow, call your doctor! Good luck. I have been there with other cleaning chemicals.

  2. well if you feel WORSE the next day or the next day do to the doctors ASAP! and i know how you feel! i felt like that for one day! it can pass if you just lay down and try to keep calm! good luck! Go for a 45 min walk and keep breathing deep for 3 min outside! it will pass soon!

  3. The bleach shouldn't cause this.  Were you using any other cleaner in the bathroom?  Some of the cleaners, when mixed with bleach become toxic.  You shouldn't have the pain in your chest this long.  I would go to the ER and get checked out.  Better safe than sorry.

  4. You should always have a window open when using cleaning chemicals like that. Some are even lethal when combined. You're probably passed the worst part, but call the ER and talk to the nurse in charge just to be on the safe side.
