the RVT classes seem a bit confusing and aren't needed to transfer. Would it help if I took them though?

  1. If you have nothing better to do than go for it but I don't see the point in it.

  2. If these classes are confusing what the the vet classes be like. I promise you the won't be easier. I would think it would be a great place in your career to do a little hill climbing. It can only help you further down the road.

Most times if you just tackle that tough stuff it makes every thing else seem easier. I never was one who shied away from tough challenges. All I ask for is opportunity, it doesn't matter how tough the challenges are that you throw at me.

Think about it for a while.

  3. It's not necessary and it probably won't be of much help because the courses in those programs usually don't fill any of the prerequisites for vet school anyway, so you'd end up with the RVT program (usually 2 years), probably about 4 years undergrad to do all the prerequisite courses for admission to vet school, then 4 more years in a DVM program.  Pretty much everyone in vet school will be straight out of an undergrad program (usually biology or animal sciences) without any sort of vet tech program, so they teach from that standpoint.  Many pre-vet students do work summers in vet practices as an assistant for some experience in the field, though.

Add: Take a look here: http://www.aavmc.org/vmcas/documents/Pre...  The admissions requirements for all the vet schools in the US, and a few overseas.  Maybe it will help to clarify what you need to get in.  Good luck!
