Question:

Should I go to the military to pay for college?

I come from a middle-class, working family. My parents were not able to put me through college, so I'm doing it myself. With financial aid & loans, I'm doing pretty well. BUT, I know I'm going to be in SO much debt when I graduate. THEN, I'm going to Grad school for my Doctorate. Besides the scholarships that I may get, should the military be an option to pay back school? I don't want to go to the Air Force, but I will if it means that my school is paid for. Advice??

  1. If you want to go to iraq instead of school - go for it - or join the coast guard!

  2. Sure, why not.... free education... lots of benifits

  3. I dont think u should go to war gET a  STUdent loan

  4. Student loans arent bad. My parents still have some from college that they pay monthly, and they're just things aside the electric bill and water bill, you know? Student loans are made so that you can be able to pay for college. The bank WANTS the money back, and if you cant pay it, they'll have you pay at whatever rate is possible for you.

My teachers at school still have loans from college. Its normal. Its not a "pay up front" kind of thing.

  5. i would definately go to the air force besides paying for school, both while in and after out.  you can get training at your job.

  6. My boyfriend is in the Marine :)

  7. If you don't want to go into the AF then you already have your answer.

    Please understand...

I have two sons out of four that are already in the military and yes the National Guard will be paying for their school  BUT

they decided to go into the military because that is what they WANT to do, not a means to get their college paid for.

Military should be a career choice not a financial aid plan.

You already have your answer. Best wishes in your endeavors.

  8. No

  9. Tons of people in America are in debt.  Would you rather be in debt or risk your life in a war?  I don't really understand why anyone would join the army during a war time as it is now...especially a war that doesn't make very much sense.  Try getting a job at a company that offers tuition assistance.
