Question:

Should I go to volunteer at this event?

About 2 weeks ago I offered to volunteer for this race that is tomorrow and was told to just come and ask for the person in charge. They have not contacted me at all since then and I do not know who the person in charge even is(I know her name but we've never met). I'm supposed to just show up at 7AM and find out what I'm going to do and if I'm even actually needed. Is this how volunteering normally goes? Just show up and hope for the best without being contacted to see if I am even needed?

  1. races usually require a lot of volunteers.

yes, thats what happens at these race events. i would just show up because i know they would need help..whether handing out water bottles or helping set up the track..

  2. i think that they should have given u better information. the person in charge may be very busy and may not have time to fill u in on details. i think u should wait until the next race come along. good luck

  3. you should definitely go, if you can't find the coordinator while there, you can usually find others who are volunteering and ask if they need help doing whatever they're doing. I'm sure you will be put to good use, and it will probably end up being fun. You could even bring a friend with you. Races usually need all the help they can get.
