I like the charcoal taste, but it seems that everybody is going to small gas grills.

  1. Gas grills are super convenient but the taste from charcoal is unsurpassed. If you do not mind charcoal grilling then stick with it.

  2. charcoal definitely tastes better, just make sure that you minimize the fat dripping into the charcoal and that you make sure the foil is placed on the correct side so that you eliminate cancer causing radicals that the health administration has been warning people against... this is also a big reason why many people are switching to gas grills.  Nothing tastes better than charcoal bbq though... :)

  3. Use what you like.

If you use a charcoal kettle they are pretty much airtight and you can just close it up and let the fire go out. Preburned brickettes are also easier to light.

But those small gas units work in a pinch.

  4. Totally up to you.  I have a charcoal kettle grill, a large gas grill and a portable gas grill so I'll use whichever one suits my situation.  If I've got the time, I'll usually go charcoal because it tastes better, but if I'm pressed for time or I need a little more control over the temperature I'll go with gas.

  5. The answer is really one of preference.  The charcoal does have a very distinctive flavor, but it is a lot of work for a small amount of food.  If I were in your shoes, I would do charcoal, though.  Nothing like a good, grilled burger.

  6. I like charcoal too, its just what you prefer, keep it retro =)
