Question:

Should I have been in special education classes?

I was 15 when I was put into special ed. I wanted to go in because there was no homework. I had to pass a psycological test and other tests to get put into the class. I just said crazy answers and they put me in the class.

My friends were in the class, too. They got in the same way. The thing is, some of them were really slow. My teacher said I had more potential than most in the class but now I wonder if I did actually belong in the class because it's hard for me to "cope" with life. I do my best but I'm a slow learner and I have this self image since I've been in the class.

  1. you lied and cheated on the test to get into special ed because you didn't want to do homework, correct?

And your parents were ok with you being in special ed? Did they think you had learning problems?

Now you can't 'cope' with life.  Well, I think it's because in special ed classes, the school work has to be given at the childs learning level, which is usually slower for special ed kids.

And since this happened to you, you got school work that was below your actual level and so you did not get the learning and experiences that are at your ACTUAL level.

So, you can not 'cope' with life becuase you are now actually 'below' your level for learning and life.

If you would have stayed in your regular classes and not in special ed you would probably be ok now and know how to cope.

I am sorry about this, I know that as kids we do what we want to do, what we 'think' is best, not realizing the consequences  we will have to endure for it later in life.

This IS life. Some things you can't change, you can't fix.

I think one thing that might help now is to not 'act' like you are special ed , just act like yourself and bring yourself back up to your actual level.

Good luck!  I don't want to be mean and say you deserve it, etc,   because we ALL do outright wrong things.  BUT, we also have to PAY for the things we do wrong.

  2. I agree with the other person, you are way more articulate than most of the people here at yahoo answers!  You can learn more in S.E. and study until you are 25! When you go to college, there are special ways to get help. Go to the disabled students office to get tested again! I did. I did not even know I had a learning disorder.

  3. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, special education has made you articulate.

  4. take life up at your own pace. Don't rush.

  5. i got a bad image of myself after not doing so well in some classes. jeez get out of special ed! your whole college life will suffer! you need algebra and chemistry.

  6. I am a bit perplexed about your statements. Are you saying you purposely got into Spec. Ed, thinking nothing was deficient about you, and now are  concerned that you really do have a problem?

I spent hours in an IEP for an 8th grader who works at a 3rd/4th grade level.  There is tons of money being spent on this kid.  She scores between 72 - 100 on IQ tests.  (below 75 is mildly retarded/100 is average)  Do you compare to her?  If not, get out of the program and leave some space for kids who really need help.

  7. So you basically lied to get out of homework and are now mentally impared so that is your fault and you are now condemed to work as a bus boy/girl because you were lazy so get out of sp ed now or you will be a bum all your life you are learning at a 7 year old level when you needed to be educated at a sophmore level so thats why you are this way now so you shoulda dont the homework and not have been a lazy lier (if you still can read tom sauyer he did the same thing only with chores not homework)
