Question:

Should I have heel lift in my boot when I'm snowboarding?

I have been snowboarding for several years with the same boots and my heels lift up several inches when I carve. Is that normal?? I bought a new pair and they seem to do the same thing. How can I fix it if its not normal? the boots fit fine at the toes. I have no room to spare!

  1. your boots are probably too big for you, or you are not lacing them tight enough. snowboard boots are supposed to fit snug on the foot. also you may be wearing the wrong kind of socks (too thick = boots are too big to compensate for the larger mass in your boot.)

  2. Different brands of boots fit different widths and also shapes of feet better than other. If you have problems with heel lift the best brands to try are Northwave and Salomon as they quite a narrow fit compared to other brands like Thirty Two, Vans etc. Unfortunately it sounds like you have bought boots that although are the right length, arnt the right width and maybe also not a good shape for your foot. Good Luck with the riding.

  3. I have the same problem, too. I just have to tie the laces extra tight, that seems to work to a point. I tried out different brands of boots, but most were too small at the toes if it fits the heel nicely.

They just don't make boots for people with feet like us.
