I'm getting married at a park and my fiance wants our dog to be the ring bearer.Would this be rude to have a dog in the wedding while we're eating and dancing cause I know she'll be in the way?But my fiance wants her there and doesn't want to tie her up.I'm not okay with it.I mean she listens, but I just think she'll be in the way.

  1. I think it's a really cute idea!! After all, your dog is part of the family too. If you don't want her at the reception maybe find someone that can bring her either home or someplace else in between the ceremony and the reception. I agree that a dog at the reception would be nothing but trouble.

  2. I see your point with her being in the way, but it sound like this is a really a big deal to your fiance. You may just need to work out a compromise.

For example, she can be the ring bearer and there for pictures, but then someone (a groomsman, perhaps?) has to take her home.

Or if that is too much of a hassle, try compromising by finding her a "date" to keep her under control. Find a younger friend of the family or friend of the family that you know is responsible and wouldn't mind the company of your pooch. Kids are especially wonderful for this job because it gives them something to do and makes them feel important.

    Good luck!

  3. Cute idea. As long as she behaves herself. Is she trained?

  4. I think it would be fine if you could have someone take her home after the ceremony.  Have one of the ushers run her home and all would be well.

  5. It would make for cute pictures, BUT there are a few things to think about:

    - Is your dog very well trained?... aka she won't go potty during the ceremony, won't run away, jump on people (especially when she sees you coming towards her)

    - Is anyone allergic enough that she would make them uncomfortable?

    - Is anyone Muslim?  Some people who are Muslim do not like dogs because their saliva is considered unclean.  Not all Muslim people adhere to this belief, or care unless they are heading out to pray, but I live in a community with many Muslims, and many will cross the street if I am walking my dog, and I asked why, since my dog heels and is tiny so isn't scary lol,  and that is the reason they have given me.

    - Does the park allow dogs?  Some parks don't.

    - Do you have someone to take care of the dog while you and your groom are dancing, hanging out with guests etc?

  6. That sounds really cute! Dogs love parks. If any kids are coming, they might enjoy taking her on a walk.
