I was gonna dye it tommorow myself, but I have a thermal protectant for ironing my hair in it. My mom said I could just rinse it with water and not wash it. What should I do?

  1. You hair has natural oils that protect your scalp from getting burned when you dye it.

If you dye your hair a few hours after you wash it . it will burn more and damage your scalp more that it would if you washed it sleep on it then dyed it.

It dosnt matter what you choose but if your hair is really clean it will be very uncomfortable. But it you want to die it now! and you already cleaned your hair you can get over the hurt i have many times.

i have also dyed with hairspray on my bangs.. No hurt done, just sleep on it and get up and dye it and you will be just fine =D

Have fun i hope it looks awesome!

  2. yes

it is good to have is really dirty cuz then the hair dye stays longer and doesnt fade as easily

  3. You supposed to have clean hair that hasn't been washed for 24 hours for optimal coloring. Better safe than sorry if you ask me because I'd hate for two chemicals to combine and make your hair turn a bad color or do something much worse.

  4. you should have clean hair before you dye it.

  5. Not necessarily "dirty" but it can't be sparkling clean that's for sure :P.  Just leave it for like a day or whatever and it should be fine.  Pretty sure the oils in the unwashed hair help to bind the dye.

  6. your natural oils help the color to take shinier, and achieve more longevity. you will wash your hair to remove the color, so leave it dirty, and get the full effect from your haircolor.

  7. I dye my hair regularly and like you use product in my hair after I wash it. Your mom is right - you should always dye dirty hair. The oils in your hair help make the dye soak in and last longer for some reason -- so yes. Rinse your hair with water so its all wet but do not wash with shampoo then go about dying it however instructions suggest. I would suggest this semi permenant dye too: Not neccesarily the same color but this brand is great!

  8. well when i dye my hair i don't wash my hair before hand only after to rinse any residue and extra colour so to speak. once you colour your hair you should just let it dry without using heat and then style it because when i coloured my hair i didn't wait and blow dried and straitened it and the colour lightened abit. so yeah good luck :)

  9. Chemicals in hair color, dyes, bleaches and etc... can penetrate any dirt or hair product such as gel and waxes... don't worry about that... the reason for the hair to be dirty is not to do with the hair... it is the natural oil produced on the scalp that will protect the scalp any irritation from the chemicals in the hair dye, bleach, etc..

    Hope this helps;-)))
