Question:

Should I include capitalism in this report?

I read "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair for a book report. The first part was to make a summary, but now I have to critique the book based on the actual time period that the book took place. Basically, I have to compare the book to actual history and see if it's accurate. So far I've talked about meatpacking, labor, living conditions, immigration, etc. Should I include socialism or capitalism because although Sinclair voices his opinion on capitalism through the book, I don't think I should include it because it's only an OPINION therefore doesn't HAVE to be accurate. Thoughts?

  1. Even though capitalism is expressed as an opinion in this book, it's still a part of history because it rises and falls throughout time and it affects the time period.
