  1. i say yes if you want to spend the money on the dvds and player

  2. personally im waiting for whats next, theres always something better on its way...I have a feeling blue rey will go the way of those giant records with movies on them, what were those called?...lazer discs?

  3. NO!!! wait a couple years!! when i first bought my VERY FIRST dvd player (nothing fancy, just old school dvd player) it was 600 bucks. now you can get a really good one for 50 bucks. so wait a while until you REALLY want it, it'll be a lot cheaper than.

  4. It depends on how much you value really good picture quality.  I agree that unless your TV is bigger than 32" (I would even go so far as saying bigger that 40"), you may not notice a big difference between blu-ray and a good up-converting standard player.  I agree that unless getting the best picture is really important to you, wait for the prices of both players and discs to come down (I would guess in about a year).

  5. Depends...

    1. do you watch movies enough?

    2. do you have a HDTV larger than 32"?

    3. do you have surround sound?

...if you can say yes to all three then it might be worth it. How ever don't forget it wont be long (6 months or so) until the price of players will more than half in price and size, and double in quality. If you can wait, do! How ever if you want one now, have you thought of getting a PS3, they work fine in most situations, the only problem is they do make quite a bit of noise (but still less than the xbox 360).

  6. I would wait for prices to really come down - BR players and discs are still grossly overpriced (so much for price reductions that were supposed to result from winning the war with HDDVD).

You can get a good upconvert player for $50 and watch your existing dvd in HD (above 480 - 720p or 1080p).
