Did it work when you jailbroke it?

Also, if I restore it through iTunes, will it erase my contacts and pictures and stuff?

  1. you will void your warranty faster than you can spell jailbreak. the new software coming out in June should be a great, new addition

  2. Yes and no....

No because if you do a restore through iTunes it will erase all the things you've downloaded. Contacts and pictures will stay there as long as you don't completely hang it up on something.

Yes because you get all the cool stuff to download.

Great place to visit is http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/ Sign up there and get lots of info on jailbreaking.

PS, It does not void the warranty... totally false. You just restore it back to normal and all is fine. This is completely software based.

PPS, the risk is very minimal, the worst thing you'll do is render it inoperable, which can be completely restored to factory settings. Hundreds of thousands of users including myself have done this. I've not had a problem once with it.

  3. Jailbreaking is VERY risky for anything.

If your iPhone turns off in the middle of jailbreaking, you're at a complete loss.

If you do a step wrong, you're at a complete loss.

You have to do it completely PERFECTLY or you're at a loss. Apple nor At&t will replace your iPhone. Jailbreaking is considered hacking and NO ONE replaced hacked product.

  4. NO!  My friend jailbroke his and now it's a worthless iBrick.

His warranty (sp?) is broke and he just wasted about 400$ for that thing

  5. iLiberty+ is the best jailbreak so far in terms of its method (ZiPhone is poorly written).

You can jailbreak if you want. Just don't expect too much from it. Most of the applications are written by people who took up Objective-C recently and are not professional (there are a few pros in there, though).

Resting through iTunes will erase everything. At the end, you can choose to restore from back up in order to keep everything.
