Should I join book club?

I've always enjoyed reading, but this year I have really taken an interest in it. Last year I was in a local reading program called the YSU English Festival; you read a given selection of books and try to win prizes for your efforts in various compactions. (like trivia) I was recently psched that about our upper class book club. When I checked it out in the year book I discovered that about 95% of the people were girls and I'm a guy. Should I still join???

  1. Go ahead. It's not a waste of time.

  2. well if you really enjoy reading that much you should def join. even though that there are mostly girls it shouldn't matter they love reading just as much as you do an that should matter as long as you love

  3. whatever floats ur boat

  4. yes you should,

    do what you want,

    it shouldnt matter

    what others have to say

  5. In my experience different book clubs offer different experiences. Talking to others in the group about what this group is like will likely provide some useful information. I don't think you should let gender keep you from going. The multiple opinions are one of my favorite benefits of book groups, and the perspective your individual experiences yield- not just as a guy, but as a person with your unique background, whatever that might be- will make your contributions of value.

Keep in mind that it's not a lifetime commitment. You don't have to finish a book that doesn't grab you in the first couple chapters, and you don't have to keep going to a book group that doesn't offer you a valuable experience.
